Testing: Allergy testing is a pain free, needle free, skin scratch test that tests for 80 of the most common allergens.
Allergens require about 5 to 20 minutes to form a reaction on the skin if a patient is allergic.
The Allergy Technician will review your results and answer any questions you may have. A copy of your test sheets are available to you upon request.
Based on your individual results, you and your doctor can discuss and decide if Subcutaneous Immunotherapy are for you.
Allergies are caused by your immune system overreacting towards harmless substances which is the same way it would react towards something harmful like bacteria or a virus. Allergy immunotherapy, used worldwide, slowly “trains” your immune system so you may tolerate these substances upon exposure.
What are common Allergens?
Grass, Trees, Weeds, Pollen, Molds, Dust mites, and Pets.
How many people suffer from allergies?
Study shows more than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies.
What are seasonal allergens?
In Spring, the blossoming of flowers, plants and trees means pollen is high.
In Summer, grass allergens can be most common during these typically dry air months.
In fall, weather like rain and wind cause mold and weed pollen to be prevalent.
In winter, pollen levels are lower but people experience more indoor allergies since they’re not outside as much.
What happens during an allergic reaction?
When exposed to an allergen, the body starts to produce a specific type of antibody called IgE.
Together the allergen, IgE and blood cell (specifically mast cell) join, causing the mast cell service to release a variety of chemicals into the blood. Histamine, the main chemical, causes most of the symptoms of an allergic reaction.
